Socotra Island is home to more than twelve rare species of Boswellia, All of which are found nowhere else in the world. These species grow across the island’s diverse landscapes, from rocky cliffs to fertile valleys, reflecting Socotra’s exceptional biodiversity. This natural richness makes the collection of pure frankincense a delicate and highly skilled task, requiring the expertise of trained local harvesters who can distinguish between species and ensure that resins are not mixed.
Unfortunately, much of the frankincense exported from Socotra is unidentified or blended, which reduces its quality and authenticity. Our mission is to preserve the true identity of Socotra’s frankincense by carefully sourcing and identifying each variety, ensuring that only the finest and purest resins reach our customers. In doing so, we continue Yemen’s ancient legacy of the incense trade, a tradition that began more than 5,000 years ago, when Yemen was the heart of the world’s frankincense routes—celebrated for its unique biodiversity, expert craftsmanship, and enduring cultural heritage.
